Soon you will be able to use [insert your favorite type of browser plug-in here] in Google Chrome. Earlier this week the Chromium team updated the dev channel to version 2.0.180.0. By far the most exciting part of 2.0.180.0 is support for browser extensions.

Firefox lags far behind both Google Chrome and IE8 when it comes to multithreading support. Mozilla has laid out plans to implement multithreading into Firefox over the next two years.

The Chromium team has released a large update for Google Chrome’s Beta channel. The Chromium team also announced that there will not be any release for the Dev channel this week.

Well here is something that you don’t see every day. This weekend Google will begin running an ad on "various networks” promoting Chrome to the masses. 

Now granted Chrome still only has a small percentage of the total browser market share. What’s impressive is the rapid speed in which Google Chrome is growing. According to our friends at Net Applications, from Sept. 08 to April 09 Google Chrome’s user base has increased an impressive 82%.

A new study released by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and Google Switzerland finds that Google Chrome’s updater (code-named Omaha) is far more effective at keeping its users up to date than the updaters in Firefox, Safari, and Opera.

Google has recently launched a new website called Chrome Experiments. It showcases interesting games and visual demonstrations that push the limit of Javascript's capabilities. As of now there are 28 "experiments" to mess around with.

Last week the Chromium team released a new Beta channel for Chrome. Previously we've had to choose between the dependability of the stable channel, or the cutting edge but inherently unstable developer's channel.

Several weeks ago I wrote about browser market share and since then Apple has released a new version of Safari.  As usual, an Apple product gets an abundant amount of free press wether its deserved or not.  In this case, it appears to me that the browser is very similiar to Chrome.

One of the smaller browsers with a diehard following is the Flock web browser. Flock's goal is to make the web even more social by embedding your various social media profiles right into the browser. The browser allows for easy one click sharing of videos, links, and pictures, via Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, Facebook, and others. Flock is based off of the Mozilla code base, and could really be considered a heavily modified FireFox. Surprisingly, the Flock team made waves today by announcing that Flock will be switching to Google Chrome under the hood.
