Soon you will be able to use [insert your favorite type of browser plug-in here] in Google Chrome. Earlier this week the Chromium team updated the dev channel to version 2.0.180.0. By far the most exciting part of 2.0.180.0 is support for browser extensions.

The Chromium team has released a large update for Google Chrome’s Beta channel. The Chromium team also announced that there will not be any release for the Dev channel this week.

Last week the Chromium team released a new Beta channel for Chrome. Previously we've had to choose between the dependability of the stable channel, or the cutting edge but inherently unstable developer's channel.

I'm not much of a full screen fiend myself, but you know there had to be at least a COUPLE please out there impatiently waiting for this feature.

The Chromium Dev team has released a piece of software that manages which version of Chrome you're given when updates are pushed through. They feature three levels of product: stable, beta, and developer preview. For more info on how to utilize these channels, including how to test the newly released Chrome 2.0 pre-beta, read on.

It seems that the latest Chromium builds are sporting a 2.0 version number (2.0.156.7, to be precise). Surprised? I know I am. The same company that has their most popular service (besides search), Gmail, in beta for over 4 years, releases a browser in September, goes gold in December, and beta releases 2.0 the next month! There are obviously two different philosophies in the Gmail and Chrome departments. So what's different?

Google Pack, Google's "recommended software" package is trading in its Firefox for Chrome. Back in January 2006, Google released their Google Pack, including software that they decided was essential. Firefox was included in the first release, but has now been replaced.
