Google Pack includes Chrome, Firefox Removed

Google Pack, Google’s “recommended software” package is trading in its Firefox for Chrome. Back in January 2006, Google released their Google Pack, including software that they decided was essential. Firefox was included in the first release, but has now been replaced.

The idea behind the Pack was that new computers would include Google Pack right out of box. The software was compiled by Google into a guaranteed spyware free group of installers, and includes the ability to auto-update all of the included software from a Google Updater that periodically checked the internet for updates.

The move is not necessarily a surprise, as the recent graduation from Beta was expected to signal an attempt by Google to include Chrome on new computers.

I would not be the least be surprised to see a small bump in Chrome market share over at Net Applications as a result of this change.
